Words that I've been waiting to hear and didn't really expect this soon! We've been practicing the four rules and he's start to get them down. Slowly but surely. And the 10/22 is still pretty big on him so I think I'll be shopping for a BB gun this week. But still, I'm thrilled!

Been there, done that with Sweet Daughter -- she wanted at "handgun like Mommy's!" for her fourth birthday. She ended up with a Crosman pellet pistol which she holds like a rifle. The rifles are still a little unweildy for her.

My daughter has an Avanti 499 BB-gun.  It's a single-shot target model that is used in 15' competitions.  Very accurate, very easy to use, and has real peep sites instead of the standard BB-gun sight-like dohickeys.

As you know, this past weekend saw me take my 10 year old son to the range for the first time. He's had a Red Ryder BB gun for about 3 years now, though, and I heartily recommend that for a good first BB gun. It's not terribly expensive, so if you have to take a saw to the stock it won't break your heart, and if it gets left out in the rain you're not out more than $25 or so...
